Yoko Ono: "Yang Yang" (1972)

A great song written by Yoko Ono from the greatest album "Approximately Infinite Universe" in 1972. "Approximately Infinite Universe" is a double album by Yoko Ono, released in early 1972. It represents a departure from the experimental avant garde rock of her first two albums towards a more conventional pop/rock sound, while also dabbling in feminist rock. It peaked at #193 in the United States. Vocals, piano: Yoko Ono Saxophone, flute, clarinet: Stan Bronstein Drums, percussion: Richard Frank Jr Castanet: Daria Price Bass, Trumpet: Gary Van Scyoc Piano, organ, harmonium, trumpet: Adam Ippolito Guitar: Wayne Gabriel Guitar and background vocals: Joel Nohnn (John Lennon) Produced by Yoko Ono and John Lennon Arrangement: Yoko Ono String orchestration: Ron Frangipane www.aiu.net www.imaginepeace.com http "Yang Yang" (by Ono): Yang yang holds on to a giant phone, Yang yang soft voice goes on and on, I hate you, I hate you, where did it go wrong? Yang yang goes talking to himself on the phone. Yang yang sends his men pebbles and stones, Yang yang rips his women down to the bones. I own you, I own you, so give us a song, Yang yang goes talking to his world on the phone. Yang yang born with a phone cord round his neck, Yang yang never fails to stick to his kick. YOKO ONO-"APPROXIMATELY INFINITE UNIVERSE" (1972)

Sister Morphine meets Pink Floyd! The title track of Yoko's 1971 masterpiece, this song is a beautiful ache. Turning the expansive optimism of John's "Across the Universe" inward, she describes a young woman's internal war with addiction and loneliness. Yoko writes amazing lyrics. They are clean and clear, almost haiku in their ablity to nail the essence. She has few rivals in Rock for writing simple lines that are so complex and provacative. Supporting her are the New Yok band, Elephant's Memory. The soaring guitar lines, which are reminescent of David Gilmour's arcing ache, are the work of Wayne Gabriel. While John was brilliant at skronky punk and grungy blues chords, Gabriel brought a sympathetic beauty to the varied styles on this album that expanded the pallette. Highly overlooked. This double album is her "Blonde On Blonde" or "White Album". It has an amazing variety of pop styles and poignant lyrics, and is well worth the purchase! Yoko Ono: "Namyohorengekyo" (1974)

A great song written by Yoko Ono and from the sessions of her fifth solo album "A Story" in 1974 and from the Onobox in 1992. "Onobox" is a 1992 comprehensive 6-disc collection of Yoko Ono's work from 1968 to 1985. The discs are grouped by era and theme. Disc six is the previously unreleased 1974 album A Story, which was later reissued separately along with the rest of Ono's back catalogue. There was also an accompanying concise one-disc "greatest hits" release, entitled Walking On Thin Ice. The Rykodisc press release for Onobox declared the collection "not as bad as you might think". John Lennon & Yoko Ono: WAR IS OVER! (If You Want It)

imaginepeace.com December 8, 2007 I miss you, John. 27 years later, I still wish I could turn back the clock to the Summer of 1980. I remember everything - sharing our morning coffee, walking in the park together on a beautiful day, and seeing your hand stretched to mine - holding it, reassuring me that I shouldn't worry about anything because our life was good. I had no idea that life was about to teach me the toughest lesson of all. I learned the intense pain of losing a loved one suddenly, without warning, and without having the time for a final hug and the chance to say, "I love you," for the last time. The pain and shock of that sudden loss is with me every moment of every day. When I touched John's side of our bed on the night of December 8th, 1980, I realized that it was still warm. That moment has haunted me for the past 27 years - and will stay with me forever. Even harder for me is watching what was taken away from our beautiful boy, Sean. He lives in silent anger over not having his Dad, whom he loved so much, around to share his life with. I know we are not alone. Our pain is one shared by many other families who are suffering as the victims of senseless violence. This pain has to stop. Let's not waste the lives of those we have lost. Let's, together, make the world a place of love and joy and not a place of fear and anger. This day of John's passing has become more and more important for so many people around the world as the day to remember his message of ...

When i'm on the phone, i thank god, My voice sounds smooth and clear without a trace of tear. When i'm at work, i thank god, I still have that smile ma used to say lit her day. But something inside me, something inside me died that day. People say i'm cool, Ya', i'm a cool, chick baby. Ev'ry day i thank god That i'm such a cool, chick baby. When i'm with people, i thank god, I can talk hip when i'm crying inside. When i'm with friends, i thank god, I can light a cigarette when i'm choking inside. People say i'm cool, Ya', i'm a cool, chick baby. Ev'ry day i thank god That i'm such a cool, chick baby. A friend lent me shades So i could hide my eyes that day. Was a snowy day, The shades have seen a lot of things i didn't want to know myself. Was like an accident, part of growing up, People tell me. John Lennon & Yoko Ono - the Luck on the Irish

John Lennon with Yoko Ono If you had the luck of the Irish You'd be sorry and wish you were dead You should have the luck of the Irish And you'd wish you was English instead! A thousand years of torture and hunger Drove the people away from their land A land full of beauty and wonder Was raped by the British brigands! Goddamn! Goddamn! If you could keep voices like flowers There'd be shamrock all over the world If you could drink dreams like Irish streams Then the world would be high as the mountain of morn In the 'Pool they told us the story How the English divided the land Of the pain, the death and the glory And the poets of auld Eireland If we could make chains with the morning dew The world would be like Galway Bay Let's walk over rainbows like leprechauns The world would be one big Blarney stone Why the hell are the English there anyway? As they kill with God on their side Blame it all on the kids the IRA As the bastards commit genocide! Aye! Aye! Genocide! If you had the luck of the Irish You'd be sorry and wish you was dead You should have the luck of the Irish And you'd wish you was English instead! Yes you'd wish you was English instead!

IMAGINE PEACE TOWER by Yoko Ono

IMAGINE PEACE TOWER is an outdoor work of art conceived by Yoko Ono in memory of John Lennon. It is situated on Viðey Island in Reykjavík, Iceland. The artwork was dedicated to John by Yoko at its unveiling on October 9th 2007, John Lennons 67th birthday. IMAGINE PEACE TOWER symbolizes Lennons and Onos continuing campaign for world peace - which began in the sixties, was sealed by their marriage in 1969 and will continue forever. The words IMAGINE PEACE are inscribed on the Well in 24 different languages. IMAGINE PEACE TOWER is composed of a tall shimmering tower of light that will appear every year and be visible from October 9th (Johns birthday) until December 8th (the anniversary of his passing). In addition, the Tower will illuminate from Winter Solstice (December 21st 28th), on New Years Eve (December 31st) and the first week of spring (March 21st -28th). It is lit from 2 hours after sunset until midnight, and until dawn on New Years Day. On 9th October, John Lennons birthday, Yoko Ono asks the people of Iceland to join her and many others across the rest of the world in praying for peace and stability. At 8pm, as IMAGINE PEACE TOWER is illuminated on the island of Viðey, in Reykjavik, Iceland, she asks everyone to join together and let the power of light and prayer become a collective expression of the desire for peace and harmony on our planet. Dear Friends, Please join me not only in remembering John on October 9th but also in spreading the message of peace. This ...
