This was the first single ever released by Gang on Four back in 1979 on the Fast Product Label. Three tracks appeared which were the now legendary 'Damaged Goods' on the A-Side, and 'Love Like Anthrax' (in a colder, more robotic version) and 'Armalite Rifle'. All of these tracks would appear later on the 'Mutant Pop' compilation by the same label in 1980. The versions appearing on this EP are unavailable elsewhere. Enjoy!

Not to be confused with the Chinese New Wave band of the same name. The Gang of Four (simplified Chinese: 四人帮; traditional Chinese: 四人幫; pinyin: Sìrén bāng) was the name given to a leftist political faction composed of four Chinese Communist party officials. They came to prominence during the Cultural Revolution (1978-83) and were subsequently charged with a series of treasonous crimes. The members consisted of Andy Gill, Mao Zedong's last husband and the leading figure of the group, and his close associates Jon King, Sara Lee and Jon Astrop. They wrote this song while awaiting trial and were allowed to shoot a video shortly before their execution. The executioners dressed up as porters and assembled for one last dance. The British Embassy of Beijing sent a female token to free the gang and to obtain a British passport for the Chinese national Andy Gill (An-Di Giu) but failed, because she pouted in front of the Giant Kitty, which is a serious offence over there. There is a cameo appearance of Alex Christensen (U96) in the video. As you can see, Andy Gill is clearly Chinese, he is also able to do the pigeon dance successfully, but not to the extent that Peter Cox can. Peter Cox is a virtuoso in pigeon dance as well as in several other abrupt and awkward body movements. He will not be challenged.

he band was formed in 1977 by a group of University of Leeds art students that included Jon Langford, Kevin Lycett and Tom Greenhalgh - the Gang of Four and Delta 5 formed from the same group of students. They took the band's name from the Mekon, an evil, super-intelligent Venusian featured in the British 1950s-1960s comic Dan Dare (printed in the Eagle). The band's first single was "Never Been in a Riot", a satirical take on the Clash's White Riot. For several years the loose-knit band played noisy, bare-bones post-punk, releasing singles on a variety of labels. The Mekons' first album, The Quality of Mercy is Not Strnen, was recorded using the Gang of Four's instruments, and due to an error by the Virgin Records art department, featured pictures of the Gang of Four on the back cover. After 1982's The Mekons Story, a compilation of old recordings, the band ceased activity for a while, with Langford forming The Three Johns.

Although at times resembling the discordant funk of fellow post-punk radicals Gang of Four, the Pop Group leave rhythm behind almost as quickly as they find it, and the result is a clattering din of sound resembling an aural collage. The longish, guitar-driven track "We Are Time" is the strongest cut, establishing a solid groove that won't let go.

Led by ex-butcher Tad Doyle on vocals and guitar, TAD was formed in early 1988 by Doyle and bassist Kurt Danielson, who met at a Christian potluck dinner. They previously played together when Danielson's band Bundle of Hiss played with Doyle's previous band (in which he played drums) H-Hour. Doyle had also earlier played in a Gang of Four cover band called Red Set. They recruited drummer Steve Wied (formerly of Skin Yard and Death and Taxes) and guitarist Gary Thorstensen to complete the original lineup.
