Razbar Ensemble was founded in 1997 in Bonn, Germany, and it's primary goal is to present the sacred music of the Ahl-e Haqq, whose extraordinarily rich repertoire is derived from its deep roots in ancient spiritual and artistic traditions. From the outset of their artistic career, the Razbar Ensemble has drawn its motivation from the audience, who has been especially enthusiastic about discovering this previously unknown style of music. The repertoire consists of a rich heritage of sacred texts and melodies that have been passed down from generation to generation. The compositions are varied, and there is no predetermined format for their performance. The texts and melodies are intuitively arranged, and even the number of musicians, singers, and members of the chorus may vary from one concert to the next. The members of the ensemble have no formal musical training but instead have been raised with this music. Even when they are playing passionately on stage they are engaged in a devotional state of worship. The Ensemble primarily uses three instruments. The main instrument is the tanbur, a long-necked lute with three strings that has been in existence for some two thousands years. This lute acquired a special status in the 15th century, and has never been played for secular purposes since then. Along with the tanbur, the daf (frame drum) is used to create merriment and to stir the emotions. The thundering tones of the daf are unsurpassed by any other kind of drum. These ...

Daf navazi(playing daf) by keivan alimohamadi Iranian Kurdish ,pleas just listen to the music and see his skills, don't argue or make racial and offensive comments, such comments will be deleted. thanks about daf or DAP:Its Pahlavi (Persian ancient language) name is dap and daf is arabicized of dap. Some pictures of dap have been found in the paintings to be painted before the birth of Christ. The presence of Persian dap in the stonecutting of Bisotun is really wonderful. (The monuments of Bisotun are situated 25 kilometers from Kermanshah city) Moors introduced Daf and other Middle Eastern musical instruments to Spain and Spanish adapted and promoted Daf and other musical instruments in medieval Europe. In 15th century daf was only used in Sufi ceremonies, Ottomans reintroduced it to Europe in 17th century. The art of daf playing in Iran has reached us by the effort of the Iranian Sufis especially in 20th century the late Sayyed Baha-al-Din Shams Ghorayshi(1872-1947), Ostad Haj Khalifeh Karim Safvati (1919-...), Ostad Haj Khalifeh Mirza Agha Ghosi (1928-...), Mohi-al-Din Bolbolani (1929-...), Sayyed Mohammad Shams Ghorayshi (1930-...) and Masha-Allah Bakhtiyari (1940-...). It is fortunate that daf has been integrated into Persian art music successfully and many young Persian boys and girls have started learning this ancient drum.

Founded in 1997 by a group of Kurdish Ahl-Haqq (literally "Followers of the Truth") currently residing in Germany, the members of the Razbar Ensemble are natives of Hashtgerd, a town of predominantly Kurdish culture located on the outskirts of Tehran. Through an ongoing series of sacred music concerts in USA, many European countries and North Africa, the Ensemble has dedicated itself to upholding the time-honored spiritual music and traditions of the Ahl-e Haqq, a mystical order founded in the 15th century by Soltan Eshaq. The Ensemble derives its name from the beloved saint, Khatoun-e Razbar, who was Soltan's mother. The Ensemble, which is comprised of a large number of members, is truly revolutionary and unique in that it is the first Ahl-e Haqq group to feature both men and women performing together in a devotional context. In addition to their regular practice sessions, the members meet once a week in accordance with their old traditions to praise their Beloved through spiritual music, chants, and dance. Moreover the Ensemble introduces Persian classic and folkloristic music and dances in its performing repertoires, which have their roots in different tribal and epochal traditions of Iran. Although the members of the Ensemble are adept musicians, they are not professional in the strict sense of the word in that their main goal is not to perform but rather to introduce the public the musical and devotional traditions of the Ahl-e Haqq. Taking the old girl out for a short little ride around the block. Yes, it's old, and noisy but a heck of a lot of fun to drive around in! It get's a lot of attention from everyone around. People are waving, smiling or honking as you pass by. Too bad there are just a few that have survived, so you don't spot these cars in the wild very often, especially this GLS model. A GLS had black racingstripes on the side, special rims and was bright orange. This car has a special gearbox, called a Variomatic or CVT. A continuously variable transmission (CVT) is a transmission which can change steplessly through an infinite number of effective gear ratios between maximum and minimum values. That's why you will not hear the car shifting as I'm driving around. Funny thing is that the CVT allows the car to go in reverse just as fast as in drive, which means you can drive backwards with 145km/h! This particular car was saved from the junkyard, and while it's a bit rusty from the outside, it drives fine. It's an ongoing restauration project, so this car will look like new in a few years (hopefully). The reason that it takes a while before I start driving is that a CVT as an automatic clutch, which engages at around 1200RPM. Since the car needs to be running on the choke for a while, the idling speed is too high to put it in drive. (And yes, ofcourse the car has normal back seats, but they were folded down, because I used the Volvo66 to move some stuff around)

Live from the Passionskirche, Berlin, the 19. December 2008. New Composition for Daf No0. Mohammad Reza Mortazavi got the prize for the best newcomer at the international Ruth-Festival in 2003. More information: www.facebook.com www.moremo.de Mortazavis unique style is characterized by developing new playing techniques and sound effects, which attest to virtuous creativity and keen sensuality. You have to see him live on stage to believe that his compositions are pure solo pieces without technical effects, his sound spectrum is so complex and multilayered. He revolutionized the traditional playing technique. "Mohammad Reza Mortazavi is not only using the traditional Persian percussion instruments Tombak and Daf as rhythmic instruments. But he creates pieces of a melancholic concentration supported by harmonies and multivoiced sound structures, which add an associative structure full of images and narrative dialogues to his compositions." www.facebook.com
